The objective this study was to report isolation from severe cases pyogranulomatous pneumonia with formation Splendore-Hoeppli structure in two cats treated at veterinary hospital. This paper suggests that genus members may be involved lower respiratory tract infections cats, molecular diagnosis being necessary method for correct identification bacteria animals.

Alterations of Bacteroides sp., Neisseria sp., Actinomyces sp., and Streptococcus sp. populations in the oropharyngeal microbiome are associated with liver cirrhosis and pneumonia

BACKGROUND The microbiomes of humans are associated with liver and lung inflammation. We identified and verified alterations of the oropharyngeal microbiome and assessed their association with cirrhosis and pneumonia. METHODS Study components were as follows: (1) determination of the temporal stability of the oropharyngeal microbiome; (2) identification of oropharyngeal microbial variation in...

Mycobacterium barrassiae sp. nov., a Mycobacterium moriokaense group species associated with chronic pneumonia.

Three identical isolates of new rapidly growing mycobacteria (RGM) were recovered from the bronchial aspirate and sputum from a 49-year-old woman presenting with lung lesions. The case met the American Thoracic Society criteria for the diagnosis of nontuberculous mycobacterial infection. The three isolates grew in 3 days at 24 to 42 degrees C. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that ...
